Her crib mattress is great im very pleased with it but the mattress pad that came with the bassinet is not what i would call comfortable. The bassinet is so hard.
It s very thin and firm and plasticy.
Baby bassinet mattress too hard. A great thing about bassinets is the absence of slats and hard surfaces which are the main reason bumper pads seem so appealing. There are however a few adjustments you can make to the bassinet to make it more comfortable and a few alternatives you can try if nothing else works. We went thru the same thing i think the bassinet pad was a little too hard.
I opted for a cute bassinet for the first 2ish months before lo goes into her crib. I can t get her in it through the day my back is killing me. Some parents may wonder if it is possible for a baby mattress to be too firm for their little one.
I am concerned that the bassinet mattress i have is too hard. We bought a great co sleeper but the mattress is so hard. Still here are a couple of general rules of thumb you can use to gauge whether your child s mattress is firm enough.
Little miss hates her bassinet. I have a babee tenda crib and the mattress is quite hard on it. Anyone else have this issue.
We set up our pack and play in our bedroom and our 4 week old sleeps great in that. So the bedding is supposed to be firm or even hard. My toddler never really liked sleeping in there and my now infant does not nap well in there either.
If you re using a bassinet your baby is already as comfortable and safe as can be no add ons required. Switch to a bassinet or cradle that utilizes a rocking motion or try warming the surface of the bassinet to soothe baby. A mattress with too much give is a huge sids or suffocation risk for a baby that s not able to move on its own very well yet.
As everyone else has said a firm mattress is a perfect baby mattress. We re currently cosleeping on a firm mattress that we placed on the floor. Some may warn you that hard surfaces will be detrimental for a baby s bone development and that it will make their head more prone to flat spots.
Most bassinets don t need bumper pads anyway since the walls are usually soft and breathable. However the opposite is actually true. She ends up sleeping next to me cms from the cosleeping bassinet haha and does pretty well overnight 3 4 hr cycles.
Thankfully this is not possible. Baby won t sleep in bassinet. Has anyone experienced their baby not settling in their bassinet.
Our baby immediately wakes up and is super squirmy as soon as we put him in the bassinet but if we use his pram as a bassinet he goes to sleep. The only thing i can think of is that the bassinet mattress feels rock hard and the pram bugaboo camelon. We are still co sleeping with him but would like to move him to his crib in the very near future.
I know it is supposed to be safer that way but seems it could be a bit softer than it is. Bassinet mattress too hard for baby.
